Welcome to our tips section, which we will be updating frequently as we love to share inside information from our wedding planners to brides and brides-to-be.
What time should we get married?
This is one of the most common questions we get asked! There are several factors to take into consideration here, namely the time of the sunset. The exact time of the sunset varies, depending on the location as well as the time of the year. An average is 5:30 p.m. so a ceremony that begins around 4:30 is ideal! This will give you the perfect lighting for post-ceremony pictures and will leave a lasting memory on your guests, as they sip tropical cocktails while watching a spectacular sunset.
How can I add some local flair to my wedding?
Flower Tip: Go tropical and get that 'wow' factor!
Music Tip: Integrate local music and your guests will be buzzing
Local Cuisine Tip: Integrate local specialties like rice and beans and plantains or tasty desserts like tres leches, flan and other local sweets.
What does 'Pura Vida' really mean?
As you are interested in getting married in Costa Rica, by now you have come across the expression 'pura vida' more than once. If translated word by word, 'pura' means pure and 'vida' means life. Pure life. Full of life. Life is good. This is the expression that ticos (aka Costa Ricans) live by. They are relaxed. They enjoy life.
But enjoying life sometimes means taking a more relaxed approach. That's where WE come in. Hire Events & Weddings Costa Rica so YOU can live the pura vida life too! I have yet to meet a bride who did not enjoy being relaxed on her wedding weekend!
What is the best type of cake to have?
The roads in Costa Rica tend to be a little bit on the windy side, not to mention the potholes. It's all part of the adventure! There are also only a handful of venues outside of San Jose that have air conditioning. Therefore, this calls for a different type of cake offering for your guests. We recommend a cake smaller than four tiers and fondant icing. Decorate it with colorful orchids and voila, beautiful and delicious!
Ring bearer – to hold or not to hold?
Ring bearers are adorable and are a welcome addition to any wedding. But the question remains – to hold or not to hold? Based on experience, if you do indeed want the ring bearer to be in charge of the beloved wedding bands, make sure they are on tight!!! (sewn, tied, pinned…). You want to make sure those rings are not going anywhere! Another option would be for the best man to be in charge of the actual rings and for the ring bearer to simply carry a 'symbolic' set of rings!
